WELCOME!

My Photo

Hi! My name is Juan Carlos Florez, and this is a blog covering a trip by bicyle from San Antonio, TX, USA to Puerto Maldonado, Madre de Dios, Peru. I am a practitioner of harmless living. I've been a carpenter-home builder for the past 15 years, I also have a degree in holistic health counseling, and am on this journey to continue my learning with an amazonian native healer I met not long ago. This trip, besides being the "greenest" way to travel, is also an initiation, and a pilgrimage. Hope you enjoy my journey!!!

HELLO FROM PANAMA CITY, PANAMA

After i left Jaco, i went to Quepos were i stayed at a great hostal called the wide mouth frog, met lots of great people and the atmosphere was so good i ended up staying 3 days, then i headed with my new friend Paul to Dominical, i arrived first and he came later by bus, we stayed at the end of the dirt road that is the tiny surfing town of Dominical, at a hostel called piramis, run by a really wonderfull spanish lady from saragoza, called Acension, she was really wonderfull, the beach was amazing, the river too, and the jungle made it really my favorite spot so far, i could have stayed there for a whole year, but stayed 4 days instead, had a great time with paul and Cody, a California free spirit lady, who lived in hawaii for a long time and now is just looking for land to grow food and live on, among many other wonderful people, went fishing, hiking, had fires on the beach and just relaxed, it was a nice break, Quepos and Dominical.
After this i continued to ride hard towards panama, the highlight was Las Lajas beach were i camped and had the whole place to myself, the night sky was amazing.  Now I'm in Panama City and it looks like i'll be flying to Cartagena, Colombia since the north east of Panama has been flooded for a while now and i cant make it to the port where i was going to take the boats down to Colombia, but its a very short flight and then ill be back on my bike straight away!!!
