So I'm in a nice little surf town called Jaco, accent on the "o", today was a beautiful ride, this area in the pacific coast is really beautiful, saw macaws and monkeys in the trees and the view of forested hills entering the ocean is great!, yesterday i slept in Granada, a transition, nothing great. And yesterdays ride was tough, a lot of climbing, today too but with much better views, i really like Jaco! I'm camping in the only "official" campground so far on this trip, about 50ft or 16m from the beach, went for a swim when i got here, lots of surfers and the surf was really decent!
The first town i stayed in when i entered was La Cruz, has a nice view of the gulf, and i met Peter at the hostel where i stayed, i posted a picture with him, he's traveled a lot on his bike, La Morena, i think he calls it, last trip he did Iran!! Said the people were really warm and friendly, he had a great trip, so i guess u have to go see for yourself...
I had my first fall, when i was attempting to make it to Liberia, the next town after La Cruz, but it was late and i had 50k to go so i think it was an omen to head back and stay in La Cruz, instead of mayb riding in the dark, it was raining hard and my back tire slipped on the edge of the pavement were it was higher than the shoulder, i went down hard but didnt tense up, so i hit the road with my showlder and then flipped about 3 times, cut my leg but not bad, and my bike just had the handelbars out of alignment, I loooove my bike!!!, an couple from the US was driving by so they turned around to ask if i was ok, the guy said it was: "pretty spectacular!", i thanked them, said all i had to do was take out my tools to readjust the handlebar, but that was it i was too distracted getting the bike and the front panniers, that flew off, off the road. I wished i had at least asked them their names, but oh well...
So tomorrow i'm continuing, if i ride another 70k day ill make it to Quepos, i've read its more traditional than Jaco, which is very "americanized", and has a nice beaches too, but if i feel strong and leave early enough, 50k past quepos is Dominical, which is at the end of a road that comes from San Isidro in the mountains, and in between these two is were my new friend Mathew (hes in the pics also), took AYAWASKA for the first time, and he went back yesterday and wrote me that tonight is another gathering, he called the town Plataneo, but i think is Platanillo, i saw it on the map where he described it would b. Anyway im happy for him and wish i could have made it in time, but ill b sending him good vibes all night!!
OK thats it for now, god energy and positive thought to all!
